BURSARIES

We will be awarding five £50 bursaries to mark our birthday. members will have to agree to their names being put into the draw and will be able to use the bursary to pursue some type of educational activity such as learning a new craft or putting towards a course at Denman, or at Cedar Farm or one of the Federation courses. In return the winners will speak to a future meeting about what they have learned.

SCARECROWS

The Scarecrow Competition could still go ahead if you want it to. The children at the school had already been consulted and they were very keen on the theme of books so lets run with that and if you are clearing out your cupboards in lockdown maybe you will find the odd spider man suit or pirates hat which could give you an idea for starting your scarecrow. We dont need to be too competitive, just decorative and original.

So, think of a book, adult or children's and see what happens!

We will be 5 in October 2020

We are a relatively new group having only started in 2015. This year we celebrate our 5th Birthday in October. In the run up to our big day we had hoped to be doing various extra things to mark our fifth year! Come back to this page for more information as the year (and the pandemic) progresses.

Bretherton Big Bash 2020

As part of our efforts to celebrate our 5th birthday and show our commitment to the community in which we live, we had started to organise the 'Bretherton Big Bash' which was to be our version of what Brethertonians know as FUN DAY.

We had started to work with all the organisations in the village to make a very memorable event on SATURDAY JUNE 27th 2020. Recent events however have meant that these plans have had to be put on hold until government advice permits public gatherings again. Who knows when this will be?

When we do have the OK to start planning again this will be a fantastic celebration not only of our W.I. birthday but of our survival and resilience as a village.

Most of the activities will centre around the village Recreation Ground and Village Institute and will include:

Classic Cars

Afternoon Teas

Craft demonstrations

Cake and craft sales

Childrens activities

Competitions

A garden gnome hunt

Plants

Bowling

Bottle Tombola

Cricket nets

Tug of War

Footballing games

Treasure hunt

and much much more.....!
